Back to School Dream

Do you know how I know it's Aug. 1st?
Because I had my annual back to school dream.

It was the first day of school
And I had no idea what my schedule was.
I knew it was a half day
And all the classes would be short
But for some reason they lasted an hour each.
I didn't have my rules photo copied.
There were punk kids on my computers.
And other boys were messing around in my coffee house.

(One of the closets in my room is a coffee house
For the newspaper staff.
It has icicle lights, posters, a coffee pot, mugs, bean bag chair.
It's pretty cool.)

Back to the dream...
I yelled at some boys on day 1 about being jerks.
I rambled about photo class and had so much extra time.
I was wearing khaki pants and a long sleeve maroon shirt.
The point is...I wasn't ready on Day 1.

This always scares me a little, but I know it's nothing.
I'm always ready on Day 1.
It doesn't matter if you're really ready or not.
It's there, you go with it and roll with it.
Before you know it...
Another school year is over.

Some people refer to their lives in calendar years...
Back in 2003...blah blah blah.
Me...I refer to them in school years.
'88-'89 was sixth grade.
End of school year '03 I got mono.
That's how I look at things.
I can't believe I'm starting year 9.
I'm old.

I don't want to think about this stuff! I can't believe you had your dream already. Was I prepared in it? :)

I do remember Rhonda in the dream. She was walking by our rooms. She had really long hair. You and I were both very confused as to which classrooms we were supposed to be in during which hour. It was bizzare.

Just wait until you're starting year 19, then you'll really feel old. I do!
