Father's Day

Yesterday was Father's Day.
There aren't any father's in our house to celebrate.
Tammy's real father died about two years ago.
Her foster father died in December 2006 of leukemia.
My father died in 1989 when I was 12.
Melissa has never known her father.
Veronica was also a foster child and doesn't recognize her adoptive father as a "father."

Yesterday I went in my car to pick Ashlee up from work.
I went to shut the garage door, looked down and saw my keys.
My truck keys.
The keys that I lost over a year ago.

Now...as I looked down at these keys
I looked at the keychain and sighed.
When I lost this keychain it broke my heart.
I didn't car about the keys on the ring really
But the keychain...I cared about.

It is a tiny, wooden clothspin
That I stained when I was in preschool.
I gave that to my dad for father's day in 1980.
The keychain also has my dad's dogtag on it.
This was his keychain for as long as I can remember.
My mom gave it to me after he died and I have used it ever since I needed keys.

Spingle Moment as Rosie would say.

It was like he was saying hi from heaven.
Just a sign to let me know he is still watching down.
It was father's day and he wanted to let me know
That he's a proud grandpa.

This is amazing. A total sign from up above. A "Hello, darlin." from your Dad. Go give that baby a squeeze for me! (just a little one)

C - this was incredibly touching. It brought tears to my eyes. I'm confident that he is beaming with joy right now. :)
